EARTH DAY: Bridge Initiative

April 20, 2020

This Earth Day, we wanted to share with you one non-profit organization that is working to connect art, culture and creativity with climate change in an effort to shift the collective consciousness and make our planet a priority. Bridge Initiative is where scientists and artists come together to raise awareness on behalf of planet Earth through collaborative campaigns.

We are very inspired and moved by Bridge Initiative’s mission, so we sat down with founder and executive director, Kate Fleming, to learn more about her wonderful organization and to hear more about herself.

Could you tell us about your organization?

Bridge is a two year old non-profit that connects artists and scientists to create public art campaigns for environmental advocacy.  We believe art has the power to inspire and make the public fall in love with something, and when people love something they protect it!

What inspired you to found Bridge Initiative?

Five years ago, I went on an expedition to Antarctica with my parents, it was my father's bucket list trip but ended up changing my life course. It was the most beautiful place i've ever seen so wild and pure, but even there in the most remote continent on earth I witnessed habitat degradation caused by humans. This broke my heart and inspired me to make a change and do something about it.

What are you passionate about?

Preserving the Earth for future generations.

Tell us 2 things people don’t know about you?

The is great for kids at home and adults - I have it streaming as a screensaver on my smart TV.
